The Allen-Bradley 1734-OB8S POINT Safety Output Module has solid-state outputs and comes in 2 series (A and B.) It has a dual-channel mode that will control any redundancy using 2 output signals. The Allen-Bradley 1734-OB8S Series has Eight (8) Current sourcing outputs per module. The 1734-OB8S output has an output current of 1A per channel. Its pulse width is 475 micro/s with a pulse period of 575 milliseconds. It has a maximum field capacitance limit per output of 950 nF. Its voltage drop reaches 0.165 Volts and it has a current leakage of 0.1 mA at most. The 1734-OB8S has short-circuited detection with a category of short, high, low, and cross-circuit fault detection. The short-circuit is electronically protected and its output can aggregate a current of 8A.

The Single-Channel mode uses one output signal for providing control. The 1734-OB8S single channel mode is approved for use in safety applications not less than 600 ms process safety times. It may also be used in applications with demand rates not more than 1 demand per minute.
The Dual-Channel Channel mode uses both output channels which enables redundant control for use in applications that require Safety Category of 3 and 4 and rated up to including performance Level e / SIL CL3 when the Point Mode configuration of the channels are configured for Safety Pulse Test.
The 1734-OB8S safety outputs is capable of being pulse-tested for detection of field wiring short circuits.
When the module has detected fault, the outputs are switched OFF and will remain off until the module has recovered from the detected fault. To enable the safety output active, the cause of the error must be removed, Command the safety output to switch to the safe state or allow the output-error time to expire. The module’s fault recovery is conformed once the indicator’s RED light turns off.
